Better Together

This year the Better Together Video Competition will open for entries on 15 September - public voting will then commence on 25 September. At the end of the voting period (on 21 November), the top 50 most-voted-for videos will be shortlisted in the five categories (Small / Voluntary, Medium and Big + Businesses + Young Filmmakers) and the winners in each of the non-profit categories will receive a €1,000 prize.

Everyone has a part to play in making us better together. Please read on to see how you can help make a difference today...

  1. FOR THE PUBLIC

There's a whole heap of ways you can get involved in the Better Together Campaign this year, including:

    Vote

From 25 September until 21 November, you will be able to vote once a day, every day for all your favourite videos, thereby helping them to get shortlisted for the judging process (and potentially winning a prize!).

The top 50 videos will be shortlisted in the five categories (Small / Voluntary, Medium and Big + Businesses + Young Filmmakers) and the winners in each of the non-profit categories will receive a prize of €1,000. So, the more often you vote (once a day being the max), and the more friends and family you also encourage to vote, the more chance your favourite video or cause will have of winning!

    Donate

When you find a video or cause that really speaks to you, you will be able to demonstrate your support by making a secure donation to that organisation instantly (just hit the 'Donate to this Cause' button).

  2. FOR NON-PROFITS

The 2014 Better Together Video Competition is your chance to showcase the work being done by your charity, community group or association, to elevate your organisations public profile, to connect with members of the public, gain new supporters, accept donations and potentially win cash prizes for your organisation. With the recent scandals in the Charity sector we at The Wheel feel this is a perfect opportunity for non-profits to demonstrate their contribution to society, the value they have in their community and a willingness to be transparent.

There are three categories for non-profits:

    1. Small - volunteer only organisations
    2. Medium - organisations with staff and a turnover of less than 500,000 euro per year
    3. Large - organisations with staff and a turnover greater than 500,000 euro per year

Don’t worry if you don’t have any video expertise, click here to visit our Video Making 101 section now, where you'll find plenty of video resources - including our recently updated free video-making guide - to get you started.
